Am I missing something? VA vs NZ

Looking at flights to London in August, checked the fares on the Air NZ website for a J ticket. Cheapest was through Shanghai due to the 767 used by Air NZ presumably.

Noting that the 2nd leg was on VA, I thought I'd check to see if I could book the same ticket through their website, which yep, turns out I can.

So exactly the same flights - Air NZ between AKL-PVG & Virgin Atlantic for PVG-LHR.

Air NZ - $9,541.18
VA - $6,822.98

Checked quickly and it doesn't look like Virgin are offering a special on the fare, just the standard (albeit cheapest) rate.

Am I missing something or are these indeed the exact some product?

I suppose maybe I'm just being a nit naive but I didn't think they would so different.

Anyway just thought I'd mention in case people assumed they would be very similar as I did.
