I worry about where this thread is going.....
Further up a gold got upgraded to a suite at El Conquistador. I paid $35 night for the privilege, low season. On a recent stay I booked a suite and did not get an upgrade to the bi level suite. A gold got the upgrade from a standard room to the bi level suite. I have stayed at the Ramses Hilton a number of times but never been upgraded beyond an executive room, above a gold reports the Ramses Suite. Embassy Niagara Falls I booked a fallsview suite and got a higher floor, I loved the stay, but a gold gets the presidential suite. Molino Stuckey- which is an epic destination- got a standard suite- gold gets an executive suite. London Hilton Park Lane normally an exec upgrade, last time a very welcome Mayfair Suite. Gold gets a Park Lane suite, very nice upgrade.
I understand it is based on availability etc on arrival, but suites are not a benefit for golds but are for diamonds, I stay (not credit card) 100 nights a year, I really hope it is just timing/ availability and there isn't some marketing thing going on for golds.
What annoyed me the most was at Hilton Avisford Park a number of years ago. As a diamond, I was told no upgrades were available. But my friends, with no Hilton status but an extra child, were upgraded to a suite so that they had more room......... I know it was a one off but it does make you think.
