Guys, need some feedback.

I need to travel to YYZ again next month. My company policy only fly us economy. I called the travel agent, and she said they are not sure if they can issue Y+ ticket. Most likely I need to pay the difference may self if I want to fly on Y+. But, they can book me on M class, at it is still an economy fare.

So, I am thinking -
Option 1. Fly Y+ and pay the difference. The price different is about SGD800-1000. So I have to fork out the money to fly slightly better seat. But the good part, CX offer 15,000 bonus miles for flying Y+. So I will earn extra 30,000 miles and the flight itself will give me around 20,000 miles. So end up I will get 50,000 miles for SGD800-1000.

Option 2. Let them issue M class and I use my miles to upgrade to C class on HKG-YYZ sectors. This will cost me 80,000 miles. The flight in economy will give me 19,000 miles. So I end up poorer around 61,000 miles for the upgrade and pay nothing.

So what you guys suggested? Go for Option 1 or Option 2. Option 2 is definitely cleaner from the office admin perspective as there is no extra cash involve here.

Also any idea what is the availability like for upgrade on HKG-YYZ flight?
