I did not find any Delta general forum - only the Delta Skymiles, so I did not think it would be proper to post my question there. I am looking, and still cannot find any forum for debates on a particular company (not a FF program).

That's the one. The forums, despite having the loyalty program names in the titles, are really for any topic related to traveling on that airline, not just earning and spending miles. Questions like this are perfectly in bounds. If you're flying on Delta, wander on over there and have a read... a number of good resources there.
