Would hotels store luggages for guests left in between of their stay?

I am planning my next trip to the States, basically staying in Portland throughout except visiting other states during the weekends to meet friends.

I am just curious if that is possible for me to check out every Friday,
Leaving my heavy luggages there with the hotel in Portland for the weekend,
And head back to the same hotel for further stay in the next Monday or so?

If yes, that would be great and saves me hundreds. Or alternatively should I carry them to the airport and keep them there with storage services?

But if not, guess I would still keep the room for the luggages as carrying them with me for those flights might be even more expensive than keeping a room empty.

I know it might sounds odd to many of you but I just wonder if anyone share similar experience and what could be the solutions.

Thanks!
