If you want upgrades then avoid Miles & More. Up until last year if you were flying long haul J or F Miles and More was the place to put your miles as even Z fares would get you 225% status and award miles once you hit FTL. Now the new mileage amounts on discounted biz fares like P are only 100%. The one advantage Miles and More has over AP is that once you qualify for SEN you have it for 2 years with a further 2 years of soft landing to FTL if you don't re-qualify.
