I am starting a new thread since many of the posts I found on this topic are a couple of years old.

I have some questions about best and most convenient mode of travel from Shanghai to Xian to Beijing.

We are in Shanghai this week and will be ready to move on to Beijing in a few days. My husband really wants to see the terra cotta warriors in Xian.

1. Shanghai to Xian:
Our choice of travel seems to be take a sleeper train from Shanghai to Xian on Tuesday night June 18 and stay in Xian for one night on Wed June 19 … or … fly to Xian late Tuesday and stay over Tues and Wed nights.

2. Xian to Beijing: From Xian, should we take a bullet train or fly to Beijing?
