Choice often runs promos where they allow their higher elites to book using corporate travel portals and still earn the promo (as well as points in the first place), but they never allow earning points (or promos on top of them) from the major consumer-oriented third-party booking sites.
The only reason I'd ever book a big-chain property at a consumer-oriented third-party site is to get some sort of wildly better rate than I could get from the hotel's own site. (e.g., Priceline.) I never expect points or promotion credit for those. If I get it, I'm pleasantly surprised.
Are there some people out there who still expect to earn points on these kinds of stays? I thought we were all generally aware that it's an exception. Some chains will give you some of your other (non-points) elite benefits...some won't.
