Credit cards are not a magical solution to every situation. Cash, while not magical at all, is a far better solution because it is not dependent on the recipient's abilities, comprehension or technology.
On the positive side, cash is easier than ever to get today thanks to ATMs and international bank networks. On the negative side, cash can be stolen or lost.
And, if you can't afford to pay for something in cash, perhaps you shouldn't buy it.
