I believe the new Kimpton property will be at a site on Tahquitz. From what I understand it will be a new build. Looking forward to seeing it myself!

When the U.S./China summit at Sunnylands took place last weekend in the area local tv news reported that the Desert Fashion Plaza redevelopment was being done with a Chinese investment group. I've been told the mall will not be demolished but undergo a massive remodel.

Breakfast is not in the main dining room in the atrium. That is now an empty space to be used for meetings or banquets they said. I can't imagine they will be able to do breakfast in the small lounge by the pool deck when the season begins. There simply isn't enough room. I had no problem ordering anything off the menu or getting the weekend buffet with the Diamond vouchers. No egg chef for the buffet even though the hotel was sold out for a convention. The outside restaurant on Palm Canyon continues to be leased out to a private operator.

Can't comment on the Diamond Amenity with the new management group. I always take the points and the former group would usually send up a fruit tray anyway. One thing the new management is doing is called "The Wow Cart". Basically rang the doorball each evening during happy hour. We were welcome to take water, soft drinks, fruit, chips and candy from the complimentary cart. This was a welcome surprise considering the free happy hour appetizers in the lounge have been downgraded.

By the way the downtown market night on Thursdays goes year round. It was actually pleasant after the sun went down. Some great dining options in the street as part of this - just pick which country you want to dine in. We went with Spain and Greece but Mexico, BBQ and more were all available.

By the way the best surprise of our trip was the new (at least to us) sandwich place across the street from the hotel. The Sandwich Spot is a small independent place with excellent food and great reviews. They also deliver to the Hyatt. If you enjoy a good sandwich check them out!
Mitch1!
Thank you so much for the kind words its really nice to hear ^
Appreciate the update on the new management and the tip on the Sandwich shop. Who knew? Will check it out

On my go to list and sharing something I don't think I have ever shared before is a restaurant called Cheeky's one of the more popular breakfast spots in town where lines are the norm
They make fresh every morning what has to be one of the most sublime cinnamon rolls I have ever tasted.
Now for those traditionalists out there this is not the gooey sticky affairs found in the mall. This is the rich buttery pastry swirled in cinnamon minimalist style with just the right sweetness
My tradition is to buy a box and bring them back to the hotel for breakfast where the baking has always been a weak point
A cinnamon roll from Cheeky's makes my day and sadly expands my waistline
Another delightful restaurant and really special with friends or a romantic date and across the street from Cheeks is Copley's easily on my top 5 list in Palm Springs. Salads are wonderful, scallops melt in your mouth and they do a very respectable Niman Ranch pork chop and rack of Lamb .Also a mean tasty New York Strip Steak
For Palm Springs I haven't had better. If its not scorching in temp dining in the courtyard is magic.
The front of the building looks un impressive but once you walk through the courtyard you know you have stumbled onto something special
