As a UA 1K that matched last year to AA EXP, I appreciated the soft landing policy(or non-policy it seems). As an AA Plat this year, I have flown AA when it makes sense to do so,over UA,all things being equal.

But my travel patterns have changed, including all international travel being eliminated, and I will be hard pressed to even maintain Premier status on UA. Fortunately I am a UA MM, so will hopefully always retain some status.

As a AA Plat, I have not competed for any upgrades with other pax,even while purchasing higher fare buckets,so I do not feel the added elite status I currently hold impacts other pax materially.

Because of my situation, I see no point in continuing to use AA for the remainder of this year,as I will probably not be able reach Gold.

While I understand AA's reasoning behind eliminating soft landings, in my particular case, it has caused them to lose revenue that will now be directed back toward UA.
