Horrible Customer Service
I know this forum is full of BA apologists, but I still need to vent. After my current bookings end I will never fly this airline again. As I have said before the lounges are ok and they have a standard on board product but the customer service is downright atrocious. I know you guys will say its my fault blah blah blah as you do to most guys who post not so nice things about BA.
Last year I booked a ticket and wanted to make a change within 24 hrs and do I did that online and was charged a change fee that the call center refused to waive.
Now they change my connecting flight out of LHR leaving me with a 9 hr lay over instead of 4.5hrs. This is an upgrade to CW. There are also alternate flights with shorter layovers available but no upgrade award availability. The call center says they can't even cancel my booking without fees. because the involuntary schedule change is less than 5 hrs. This is simply unacceptable to me.
I don't expect much sympathy on this forum based on the responses I have read to similar posts from others in the past, but this post might help the occasional reader if s/he might want to consider flying a different airline.
Bottom line - BA can screw me without paying me any penalty, but they can't do anything to make my journey more pleasant if it means going slightly above and beyond. This tells me the airline does not value my business and I'll be voting with my $$.
