They're happy because they're getting revenue and an unoccupied room for a couple nights and your happy because you get the credit. I've read on other forums where people build a good rapport with a hotel and have been able to book a night or two and never show up and still get the credit. I think this maybe a rare occurrence, but it still may not hurt to introduce yourself and try to build a relationship.
