At this point, I pretty much assume Tripadvisor mainly exists for my amusement. Seems like everything I read about it is either (a) people using it to vent or (b) hotel shills writing fake reviews about their own property.
The reviews on Booking.com tend to be less emotional and more informative, IMHO. Fewer people giving properties 10's or 1's, more details about the stays, etc.
