Could this happen? If I tell the front desk that I might not be coming back for awhile so don't bother about any turn down service, will this prevent from this happening?

Apparently the OP qualifies on nights, not stays, and plans a five night stay in a single hotel. He/she will actually "stay" one or two nights on a prepaid rate for five nights.
I would be concerned that housekeeping will report the room as unoccupied during the later nights and despite the prepayment, OP will not get credit for all five nights.
