I think there were enough details in their review that they would be easy to identify. They said which month and year they stayed, that they were a couple, that they checked in very late, had a Priceline-paid reservation, even the city they lived in (Gaylord, MN, pop. 2,305 as of the 2010 census), which doesn't seem to be a huge metropolis so not likely any other guests from the same town. And it sure doesn't look like a huge hotel where staff wouldn't remember guests. And they seemed to make a memorable impression on the hotel so I'm sure it wasn't that difficult to put two and two together, along with matching up the details.
I don't think this is a case of trying to shame guests into not giving negative reviews. This poster has 2 reviews, both negative and both unreasonably so. From the details given by the manager, if true, they sound like the guests from hell. I read it as the manager honestly wanting to tell the hotel's side of the story and putting the negative review in perspective to what really happened.
