It's cold in Katoomba in June, not freezing, but cold. You could still get hit by a snowstorm but unlikely. The issue in June is that you may encounter frost and fog. Katoomba daily average in June is 50.
The Hop on Hop Off is a good alternative. Rather than City Sightseeing you could take the Trolley Tour which is semi-guided.
Nope, am not a meteorologist; I bow to the year-to-year knowledge & experience of a native. I was referring to our experience on a half dozen trips to Sydney mostly in June thru August (assuming that was the general venue for the OP's question) & as compared to Seattle for the same months, the temperatures were similar. On a June day (a couple of years ago) when we went to Katoomba it was quite warm & sunny, essentially shirt-sleeve weather (but of course that was a one-off experience).
