I got done by vs once, they refused to let me fly until I bought a refundable return from them to satisfy the 90 day rule, despite the fact that I had an open return leg on another airline, charged me £4k on the day then took 3 months to refund it. Plus I find the multicolour seats make it look like a cheap and cheerful charter flight!

Which I missed!

Might work to my advantage, hopefully not too many elites taking the aisles, ill probably refuse to fly if they try to middle seat me!

What will it be like:

It will be PERFECTLY FINE in most likelihood.

If you are used to premium cabins, then you will feel a little cramped to begin with, but you get used to it. I find I just need to zone out.

The night time return will be better than the outbound - particularly as if you do Vegas properly, you will be exhausted. Take a herbal sleeping tablet, and wake up in London. Worked for me out of CPT earlier this year.

Just suck it up. It isn't that bad. Honestly. People here are a bunch of soft drama queens.
The older I get the more I like my comfort. Plus I like to smugly look at people walking to the back as I recline with a glass of champers

Upgrade chance will depend on the loads, but even if you don't get CW, Y+ would be a blessed relief with all those stag and hen dos that invariably crop up on those flights (which is why LHR is better for that route IMHO)
I've never flown ba y+, is it actually substantially better then Y?

I've done WT LHR-SFO - a similar time/distance - a couple of times. It's pretty miserable, but then all 9hr Y flights are.

You might be lucky and be able to get a £179/£189 upgrade to WT+ at the airport. I've no experience of doing longhaul from LGW, but it's pretty frequently offered at LHR. Just ask at the check-in desk.

I've got lucky I guess in the past paying £450'or so for double upgrades lhr-JFK, fingers crossed I guess...
