As I posted above:

I wouldn't 'avoid' the LHR Ren. LHR Ren is less expensive than Marriott, the exec lounge offerings are robust, and the lounge has the fantastic runway views. Downside is rooms are small & tired & due for a reno (ground floor has been reno'd), but for a quick overnight stay before a morning departure or late night arrival, LHR Ren is my 'go to' airport hotel. Staff is nice there. Don't know if they still do it, but last time I was at Ren as an elite I was offered a glass of champagne or o.j. at check-in.

If someone is looking for a stay near LHR, then either the Marriott or the Ren would be a good option.

Thanks for the timeline re: Maida Vale & commute into the city.

Cheers.
