Quick question - for those of you who use akismet, do you actually look through the spam to see if there are any legitimate comments? I used to do that but now I get so much so that it's simply not an effective use of my time.
Used to, don't any more. Most legitimate comments seen as spam are those with 2 or more links in them, and they go into 'pending' rather than spam anyway.
One potential issue with Akismet is that it apparently keeps details of all the spam, even the deleted stuff, which is fattening out your WP database. Haven't looked into this properly though.
