Good find. But it does appear that the problems were all experienced with Avis of Alaska, which is Avis in name only. They pretty much do business as they please, and Avis status, coupons, discounts don't matter.

I might buy some for an upcoming rental in SAT. Rates are high in SAT, as are the surcharges. $10 a day in rental savings means another $5 per day in surcharge savings.
