If you have a full J fare, it should be changeable and refundable, so just change to the date and flights you want. You don't need to wait for AZ to declare a strike waiver. But this seems to contradict your statement that the June 15th AZ ticket FCO-BOS (is this the return so soon and not part of a RT?) is nonrefundable (which for exUSA tickets tends to mean changeable with a $250-400 fee).
Would trip insurance reimburse the deposit for the first Italy hotel room night that you wouldn't be able to use or just pay for any additional expenses, such as hotel rooms at other airports?
