I had to live in MSP under Northwest and now Delta. It is disgusting how Delta overcharges MSP travelers and then returns the favor with poor to mediocre service at best. MSP has always had expensive fares, but with the merger they have gotten worse. Compare MSP to Denver where there are 3 hubs and they have much more resonable fares. Denver travelers are lucky. MSP needs competition and more airlines. The Delta merger has only hurt MSP travelers with smaller planes, and even higher fares. Mergers are not good for consumers and MSP is a prime example.
