IMHO, it's not a question of IDB procedure - found in the Contract of Carriage, of course - but one covered with the rule for Minimum Check-in Times. Emphasis mine.

You must be present at the departure gate and ready to board at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure time to retain your reservation and a seat.
