I stayed in German Marriotts pretty often, and quite a few hotels I don't have trouble with my key cards.

So far Mr. Nacho's Plat status are all noted at check-in in Germany. Only in the US they missed it 2 times.

Maybe you should try mentioning the late check-out and upgrade at virtual concierge. WE didn't do it because we have done it numerous times and they never worked.
