My wife is flying home tomorrow on United. 23 hours and 58 minutes before her flight, she gets an email from UA with a boarding pass (united.com shows her as checked in). We can't figure out how she was checked in for the flight. She was moved from an aisle seat to the opposite aisle seat, but otherwise everything looks ok.
Any ideas? I don't recall ever seeing this on any airline.
It is standard for UA to ask at outbound checkin if you wish to be auto-checked in for your return flight.
