This reminds me of the quickly aborted attempt by KLM to partner with AZ. Not only were the cultures different, but the AZ IT system was an impossible mess. I remember having an onward connection USA-AMS-EU using a KLM codeshare on AZ where no one in AMS could give me the boarding pass for my flight. Finally I was sent to one special magical transit desk in some far wing of the airport, in what seemed to be a basement, where a single agent in an AZ uniform apparently telephoned Italy for a seat assignment and then wrote my boarding pass by hand.
