I've seen a couple of people with the new ExecPlat tags, suppose they requalified for status very early this year for next year. Don't know about Plats and Golds getting new ones. Given rumours that Parker has nixed the new livery/corporate image and it's on hold suggests these may become collectors items if the new merged program starts up March 2014, which is unlikely.
When I crossed the 2MM mark as an EXP early this year, I sent a note expressing my mild dissappointment at getting old-logo tags despite all the hype about the rebranding. I marked the message as "response not required".
I received two phone calls and an email to apologize and offers to call back in a couple of months to request new tags. No contact I have ever had with AA on any topic has resulted in such an immediate and vociferous response.
So, a couple of months later, I took them up on it. They go much better with my B&R gear than the old tags.
As for a PLT looking for tags... When you requalify and receive your 2014 credentials, a Dremel tool can turn a 2013 card into a luggage tag in a few seconds.
