Ive seen the gates, and they have the magic ability to block off the arrivals hallway and feed back into the departure lounge (and vice versa).

I've also seen pax get off a plane (that went mechanical) and went back into the gate waiting area for an equipment change.

No need to exit the transborder terminal unless you plan on not flying that day.

The stupidity lies in forcing the pax who wanted to fly that day, to re clear customs when they pose absolutely no additional threat, to waiting in the transborder terminal.
