As much as Y gets derided here, the reality is that AC's product is not that bad... and a far sight better than what the likes of AT offer. I'm not sure why they'd want to lower their brand image. It would be like GM offering some kind of basic Korean econobox under the Buick badge instead of putting a Chevy bowtie on it. The brand, as maligned as it is, is still worth something and it's madness to tarnish it that way.
The accountants are running the show, just like everything else in the economy these days. It's a race to the bottom, and in the end we all get screwed.
