We would like to leave the airport so we will need a eta to leave, correct? Can our bags be tagged all the way to Auckland? This would certainly make leaving the airport easier and quicker. We also have global entry so we should be able to clear quickly, yes?

On the return we leave Auckland have a connection in Sydney not enough time to leave the airport, fly to hong kong both on qantas and then connect to a royal Jordanian flight from hong kong to Bangkok. This is all in the same day Since they are all oneworld can we check in once in akl and get all boarding passes and have luggage checked to bangkok?
Is this all one ticket? If so, your bags should be checked all the way through and both boarding passes should be issued in Shanghai. Do not tell the airline you intend to leave the airport as they may try to charge you additional taxes.

An ETA is all you need to enter Australia. Just follow the signs to immigration instead of going through transit security. You can try using SmartGate. However, you will likely not be able to use it as you are technically in transit and the airline will have reported you as transiting rather than entering the country. This is not an issue for entering, it just makes using SmartGate problematic.
