Envoy (and international first class in general) is one of the worst value propositions in the history of travel. In what other realm of reality is it reasonable to pay a $50-200/hour premium for 6-8 hours of marginally better food and comfort? Would you pay $50-200/hour more for an upgraded hotel room? For a better seat in a theater?
If I am paying for it? Hell no. If my company is? Absolutely. That's the thing. These seats are not priced commensurate to individuals' incomes. They are priced to corporate incomes, which I don't know about you, but are substantially higher than mine. Actually, more accurately, they are priced to how much value a businessperson's rest and relaxation in-transit would add to whatever business the passenger would conduct on arrival. Since my company wants me to arrive at an international destination rested and non-stressed and ready to do business, and because the airline KNOWS THIS, my company and others are willing to pay considerably more. Is it a good value? Really depends on who you're asking: an individual, or a corporation.
