Sorted - we'll spend 1 night in Takayama and the rest of the time in Kanazawa/surroundings.
Kanazawa sounds like a good choice ! As an aside, I was just back in Kyushu for the first time in about 2.5 years and rode the Kyushu Shinkansen a bit, wow does it ever make a difference ! Was back to where I once lived in 22 minutes instead of the usual hour !
