How is it possible to know in advance if an itinerary purchased on a Star Alliance partner airline will actually transfer to your main program, e.g. United?
Go to the UA site http://www.united.com/CMS/en-US/mark...ePartners.aspx and look at the earning charts for *A partner flights. It's all clearly laid out there.
Make sure the ticket class you purchase qualifies for mileage earning.
