It is pretty simple, LH wants to prevent the FCL from being over crowded. Letting F and GS from UA, and F from other star alliance carriers would make the FCL like the tower lounge.

The real question is why did UA shut down its F lounge in FRA. It can have an F lounge in MEL but not FRA? Bizarre.

And yes some Sen lounges are better than UA GF lounges.
