The hotel is a pure cash cow for SPG, thus no renovation done.
Would not stay there again. But not so much choice in Essen
Essen is certainly not THE German centre of energy providers, it is the headquarter of RWE AG, one of the bigger four in Germany. And the hotel is certainly not a cash cow for SPG (a loyalty programme) nor for Starwood Inc., a chain of mostly franchises, but for HAS hotelgesellschaft am Stadtpark mbh & Co. Betriebs KG, the entity operating the hotel.
