But I ended up shopping today and purchased the Rimowa before I read your response. Why? I still don't like the huge Tumi logo on the side. Plus I like the longer handle on the Rimowa, easier to strap my computer case onto it, plus the handle is infinitely adjustable. Also, I like the compression system. Also it rolled a lot smoother than the Tumi, at least in the store. I guess I'll find out over time whether the wheel damage some people mentioned is something I should have been more cautious about, as I've made the leap.

I tried a sample packing tonight, and was amazed that although the Rimowa is smaller on the exterior than my old Tumi ballistic nylon Alpha, the Rimowa actually holds more. Also, although I understand that some don't like the two equal sizes of the clamshell on the Rimowa, I found it easier to pack and find things. I've yet to deal with it in a hotel room though.
