Maybe that because they are losing money handing out travel vouchers for illegitimate reasons. I have often stated that I wish the airlines would just call flyers bluffs, and tell the "sorry Charlie".

People will read this story, and think to themselves that if anything goes wrong on their next flight, they will get compensation. Don't get me wrong, some of it is legitimate, but it has been my experience that most of it is just people thinking that because the flight is an hour late (most times due to weather), that they should get a free round-the-world ticket and a bazillion dollars in compensation......and the airline caves far too often.
