Best to change your NZ flight ... to any other airline, or an earlier flight on NZ. Almost no chance to make it with checked bags as you do need to clear immigration and customs in order to re-check with UA; if interlined bags (e.g. flying QF AKL-SYD) then no need to clear immigration and customs as you can stay airside in transit.
