I definitely agree to this, as well as davetravels comment on the first page about so many jaded flyers. This morning I got off a 76G from ACC and even though I had tons of legroom in a bulkhead EC seat and managed to sleep thanks to a good eyeshade and sleep deprivation, I sure do pine for the upgrade to J I had a couple months back on the same route. The service from the FAs was great, there was a full course meal, the seats were, IMO, pretty comfy, I slept for the first time on a plane in...years, the AVOD is the same size as what's in Y on the updated 763s but the selection was great and back in Y, it's just the big wall-mounted monitors. Oh, and that egg/cheese/tomato "thing" they served us before our arrival... I hope to score a lie-flat some day in the future. But for the time being, I'm more than content with the recliners. Shoot, I'd take a CRJ F seat over the EC seat for a 10+ hour TATL.
