If aa won't pay (after you get a new laptop), take them to small claims court.
Chances of them either cutting you a check after you file suit or just ignoring it and having no one show up (you win!) are very very good.
The chance of them sending someone to defend against a $400 lawsuit that could go either way, almost nil.
