Not the answer to your question but the T+Cs of the targeted 4,500 bonus Avios offer received in today's snailmail spell out the qualifying dates. I'll get the 4,500 bonus if I register (done) and spend £200 per month in June, July and August.
T+Cs specify transactions made from 1 to 30 June, 1 to 31 July and 1 to 31 August.

I read this post when you made it but didn't pay attention. Thankfully Avios sent me a follow up e-mail today about this offer! Seems a dead easy way to earn some bonus avios. Just registered and fished out my Lloyds TSB amex from the drawer. It was in hibernation till a decent foursquare offer came about.
