When I look at my statement and deduct my only ineligible purchase (Costco) from the $1058.16 I get $1007.90.
My only charge for $1007.90 was for 2x$500 VR (+3.95 fee) at a CVS in Missouri.

Assuming Amex is not crediting more than 1x for GCs/reloads, it is still a silver lining that Amex is at least allowing 1x. Therefore we can still pay certain bills (mortgage, rent) and earn points where normally we couldn't.

The other question is: Will it count towards minimum spends, or will they exclude GCs and reloads?
