Hey all,
Normally I hang out in the AA forums and clock all miles to Aadvantage, but I'm seriously considering a jog to Australia over the 4th of July. Optimizing EQP earnings on AA, it looks like the best route to fly is:
LAS-LAX-HKG-MEL-HKG-LAX-LAS on CX in Premium Economy (R fare) for ~$3200. (The LAS-LAX-LAS segments are on AA w/ AA flight #'s in B and H)
Before I go ahead and book the ticket, I thought I'd ask here about upgrading from E to Business on CX, which I've never done:
From my research, which
really doesn't seem to be right, it looks like a 10,000+ mile RT R-->J upgrade is 55,000 AsiaMiles. It also seems like I can only do my upgrade at the airport when I'm checking in.
It also looks like I, or someone who loves me, can transfer SPG points to an account I create on AsiaMiles, which I can then use to upgrade the flight (upgrade space permitting, of course). If I do get upgraded, I also want to make sure it all books to my AA FF#, which from reading your threads and using search looks like it shouldn't be a problem.
Can someone please check my math/method/madness and tell me if I'm close or way-off base on how many miles it's going to take and how best to accomplish this? Regardless of being able to upgrade, I'll probably book the ticket anyway, but I figured I'd ping the experts here in advance.
Thanks!
