I believe it also makes a difference if BOM was a stopover or a connection. In case of a connection it should be inside the rules to reroute you to your final destination - which they did.
If it is a stopover they are obligated to get you there - which they obviously tried. I believe in that situation you have grounds for some refund, but not sure how much and how it is calculated.
