I was in the same situation and when I called to cancel the Citibank AMEX they offered me an $85 statement credit (effectively waiving the annual fee) and 500 bonus miles for every month where my spending is $500 or more for the next 16 months. If you've had significant spending on the card during the last year I would expect them to make a similar offer to you.
