I have experience of just this issue CX provided no information whatsoever not even an email.
When I actually found out I spoke to BA who quickly fixed things and refunded the Avios. I complained to CX and got access to wing First for self and family.
Must say when returning from SIN in F on CX the experience was best 3.5 hours ever on a plane. Simply superb.
