If you can change your dates I would suggest Mallorca in September/Mid-October. Way fewer tourists so house rental is way cheaper (combined with the Spanish real estate collapse). Plus I would assume Oneworld out of MIA, so you have both AA and IB direct to MAD for an easy layover and a short connection. I just checked pepecar and it looks like a minivan for around 30 euros a day.
