I'll buy a big travel bag, take the wheels off (and put it in my big luggage), I phoned british and they confirmed me I have 3 pieces allowance and that they should not give me any plastic bag (I phoned ba in Italy, don't know if ba at JFK has different procedures).

if you just need a plastic bag, how about going to a shop that sells prams and asking them if they have a spare bag you can have?
flying back from ICN they BA bagged up my stroller. but I don't think it's a normally offering.
