No harm in trying.

I had a similar situation in February, but got nothing. We in IAD had a sick captain, so they had to fly one in from London. We departed a little over 4 hours late (last flight out of the day).

As a result, we got there. But when you are four hours late on TATL that meant various perks of ponying up for Club World evaporated.

So it was not a zero sum game for some of us Pax.

The Fast Track immigration line was closed when we got in. So we ended up in one of the longest lines I've ever seen at immigration, and we First and Club stood with everybody else and it was 1:15 hours before we got through immigration.

Then because of all of this the Arrivals Lounge had been closed. And I had been counting on it to shower and get ready to spend the day at a friend's in Epsom before checking in to my place in SW7.

I wrote a message to BA thanking them for getting a replacement Captain in and getting us to London. But pointed out their system is rigged in such a way as to make perks evaporate if a TATL flight is really late.

So if you are on time, you get all the advantages. Hours late for reasons to do with BA and sorry, mate. You're out of luck? This obviously will be no news to them, as they know how their system works.

Some get the perks but if you pay up and fly Club or First and are late, sorry. I asked them in the email if they might review these ways Club World and First and Golds/Silvers can really have advantages of premium fares by closing some of these operational gaps at T5 especially.

I got no compensation (nor did I ask for any). Just a "sorry you were in convenienced."

So hope you have better luck! Let us know...
